The Baker’s Shelf is an independent review site for bread baking equipment — Dutch ovens, stand mixers, and proofing gear. Narrow on purpose: we'd rather know three categories cold than cover everything shallowly.

How we evaluate gear

• Verified specs, not marketing copy. Every capacity, weight, temperature rating, and price on this site is checked against manufacturer pages and current retailer listings. Specs were last verified in September 2026. Prices move — we publish verified ranges, not quotes.
• Rated by what matters for bread. Mixers are judged by real dough capacity in pounds, not wattage. Dutch ovens are judged by steam performance and heat behavior, not brand prestige.
• Every pick lists honest disadvantages. If a review only praises a product, it's an ad. The downsides are the part that actually helps you decide, so they're non-negotiable here.
• No sponsored placements. Rankings never change based on commission rates, and manufacturers don't pay for coverage.
